Cheers to Belgian Beers is back for its 10th year in 2016.  The Belgian-style  Beer Festival will feature a single yeast strain, (see below for the beers entered) with the beers available determined by a dart throw to diversify the color and strength of the beers. When Portland’s Cheers to Belgian Beers started in 2007, it was to help introduce Oregonians to the breadth of style and flavors of beers brewed in Belgium.  The 2015 Cheers to Belgian Beers featured 60 beers from 57 brewing companies.

For the sixth year in a row, the festivities will be at the North Warehouse, 723 N. Tillamook Street in Portland. The outside area will be tented and food from Monk's Deli and Urban German Grill will be available on both days. People are encouraged to take public transportation (the TriMet Bus Line 35 stops 1 block away and the Yellow Max Line stops 2 and 3 blocks away) or ride your bike (we will have bike parking outside for 100+ bikes). Parking is available on the street between Broadway and N. Graham St.

Please don’t park in front of any neighboring businesses that have no parking signs!

Cheers to Belgian Beers Yeast Strain:

Cheers to Belgian Beers Yeast Strain:

Imperial Organic Yeast 58 Lioness
Excellent Belgian that shines in red to brown ales, but also works well for light colored beers. Lioness produces white fruit esters that are balanced with clove phenolic aromas. At the low end of the temperature range this strain is tamer than at higher temps where the esters and phenolic levels will dominate.
Temp: 64-78
Flocculation: Medium-High
Attenuation: 75-78%
-Dubbel, Belgian Blond, Belgian Dark Strong, Tripel

Cheers to Belgian Beers is sponsored by MCF Craft Brewing Systems, Boelter Beverage, The Country Malt Group, Great Western Malting, Imperial Organic Yeast and Portland Mercury.
