Dogs' Day of Summer

The Portland Mercury and River Pig Saloon have teamed up to unleash the 3rd annual: Dogs' Day of Summer. Already the most anticipated dog racing event of the season, this pet-friendly street fair is sure to have the entire canine community hanging in balance.
The event is free for spectators! Race registration for your Wiener or Pug costs $20 in advance ($15 early bird) or $25 day-of. Head to the ticketing link to sign 'em up!
The day will feature:
Wiener Takes All (Dachshund Racing Event benefitting the Oregon Dachshund Rescue)
Pug O' War (Pug racing / not rope tugging, benefitting Pacific Pug Rescue)
Paw Spa, for light bathing, grooming and nail clipping
Who wore it better? An informal pet/owner (photo-booth) Look-a-Like contest
Pet friendly block party and street vendors
Wiener Takes All will pit Portland-area Dachshunds against one another in 6 dog heats, to determine which Wiener tops them ALL. Similarly, the Pug O' War stands to vet out these sturdy wrinkle faced canines against one another in a not-so-fierce feat of the will.
The Paw Spa activation is designed to give your pet the pampering he or she so desperately deserves. Once freshened up, check out our friends at Oregon Photo-booth Rental, who will host an informal Pet/Owner Look-a-Like contest! Matching outfits? Sure! Similar mannerisms? Yes, please! Matching eyes or facial structure? EVEN BETTER!
During the races, there will be pet-friendly vendors open for business on NW 13th Avenue (between Glisan and Hoyt), along with hot dogs, cold beverages and a few more surprises!
