Telltale Presents: Why Don’t I Draw Myself Fat?
Fri, Oct 16 at 7pm
Telltale Presents "Why Don't I Draw Myself Fat", a workshop, discussion, and art show as part of the Fat Over Lean art month.
When I started drawing myself in comics, I had a sudden realization—I was drawing myself far smaller than I am. And I've gotten really obsessed with the idea of why....? Is it just a drawing skill level thing? Is it internalized fatphobia? Is it not enough positive fat representation in comics? I don't know! In a world where I can draw myself like ANYTHING, why would I still draw myself skinny?
Part one: Join us on 10/16 from 7-9 at Fans Only Studio for a discussion about creating self portraits while fat, and then we will create one together in the room! Please bring whatever supplies you'd like to use and/or share with folks. This is open to 15 participants.
Part two: on October 24th, we will get back together and tell stories about our experience of creating these pieces—Telltale has a long history of vulnerable storytelling and building community together. We will tell our stories during an open studio time—invite all your friends! Free to attend, tips gladly accepted from the audience. Storytelling open to 6 participants.
