Illmaculate & OnlyOne are poised to become one of rap’s most revered duos. The two Portland natives have already left a mark since becoming the youngest members of Portland’s notorious Sandpeople crew nearly a decade ago. It was then that the two, still teenage artists began to bond over their fondness of weed, video games, and the scathing punchlines and razor-sharp wordplay of battle rap. What started as a playful rivalry has solidified into a collaborative relationship that pushes both emcees to the very top of their game.

For evidence, one needn’t look much further than Illmaculate’s battle record – since bursting onto the scene in 2004 with his legendary Scribble Jam win, he has won 2 World Rap Championships and bodied countless opponents. Some of the latest to experience his wrath include heavyweights such as Real Deal, Aye Verb, Charlie Clips and DNA.

OnlyOne isn’t as prolific in the battle scene but is still highly respected by fans and a feared competitor. Together they have accrued over 16 million views on YouTube.

Unlike the majority of successful battlers, Illmaculate & OnlyOne are renowned for making and releasing great music. Their impressive discography has gained them listeners around the world and they’ve shared tracks with such notable artists as Macklemore, Tech N9ne, Evidence, Fashawn, The Grouch & Inspectah Deck. They’ve brought their energetic stage show on international tours and have shared stages with Mos Def, Wu-Tang Clan, Yelawolf, and Slaughterhouse to name a few.

After years of helping one another work on various solo and group related projects, Illmaculate & OnlyOne are finally introducing themselves as a proper duo with their debut LP, Only & Ill. They get loose on “Are You High Yet?,” a playful ode to loud (coincidentally, the album was delayed by two marijuana related court cases). Their somewhat radicalized views are on display throughout the album as well; “Sky Is Ours” talks corruption and revolution while “Audiobiography” paints a vivid picture of the rough upbringings that shaped them. Only & Ill also features appearances by Crooked I and Yukmouth and is tied together with strong production from Hippie Sabotage, Chase Moore, and Sapient.
