Portland Sketch Comedy Festival presents Stay Funny, Stay Scared + Dave's Basement
Thu, Jul 24 at 7pm
It's the first night of the festival, and we are starting off with a bang with two solo sketch comedy performers:
Stay Funny Stay Scared (NYC) and Dave's Basement (PDX)
ERICA DIEDERICH'S STAY FUNNY, STAY SCARED
Erica's solo-show 'Stay Funny. Stay Scared.' has performed in multiple venues around NYC including The People's Improv Theatre and the Brooklyn Comedy Collective. The horror themed show designed to make you laugh has made it's way around the country as part of the Austin Sketch Fest, Rise Comedy Fest, Philly Sketch Fest, and iO Fest! Erica was an exceptionally terrified child. Then one day, everything changed. She now watches movies like 'The Conjuring' and 'It' for fun. As it turns out, the connections between horror and comedy are more prevalent than we thought. Come watch 'Stay Funny. Stay Scared', her half-hour exploration of all things horror. Laugh at spooky themed characters and be a part in discovering how to overcome the terror within.
DAVE'S BASEMENT
Let’s hide from the world! Descend into Dave’s Basement — a solo sketch comedy show that walks the line from despair to delight. Mr. Basement invites you to join his cast of characters in a concrete palace of the mind. Featuring enchantments such as: grandiosity, sincerity, amusing scenarios, audio-visual mayhem, and (at least) one person on a stage.
David Wester has been spotted around town at The Siren Theater (performing with D&D), Kickstand Comedy (hosting Secret Aardvark), and the grocery store (buying rotisserie chicken). He’s been featured in the Portland Mercury Undisputed Geniuses of Comedy, Portland Sketchfest, and Seattle Sketchfest.
